Just in case you’re wondering: No, we’re not just running your files through an automatic machine translation system. These systems allow you to get the gist of a text you may not understand otherwise but they are not able to produce high-quality translations unaided.
CAT tools on the other hand incorporate so called translation memory software, which stores previously translated source texts and their equivalent target texts in a database and retrieve related segments during the translation of new texts. The translator will immediately see previously translated sentences and terminology and will thus be able to choose to use the same if it’s a repetition in the text or to alter it according to the new context. The use of translation memories will not only help yield a high quality translation and guarantee consistency, it will help save money in the long run.
Translation Memory Technology (TM)
For all our translation and localization projects we are using Translation Memory (TM) technology. So when you make changes to the original, we determine what has changed since it was last translated. We only translate the changes, return the entire translation and only charge for the incremental translation. This results in considerable costs savings for our clients
